    Location was excellent.

I had requested a view of the castle, but did not know that that was extra, so declined to pay more for upgrade. The room that we got must have had the worse view of the whole hotel, back of rooms and fire escape. After requesting nice view , we got NO VIEW!!!

Clean comfortable rooms ,decent food ,excellent location

The bar ran out of beer on a sat night ,maybe a facelift required

    Location and quite friendly staff

No record of my booking - although this was sorted out in the morning. Shower in room was a little underpowered.

The location on Princes Street above M & S was excellent! Given a room with a view of the castle and art gallery. Friendly and efficient staff

    Could not fault the hotel!

Rooms were better than they looked in the pictures online.

All of the staff we came in contact with didn't seem to know anything. We decided to eat in the restaurant on our first evening. Some of us ordered what was on the starter menu but also available as a main course. When it arrived, the portion was very small (staff confirmed that it was the same size as the starter option). We were then expected to pay £13.95 while the starter option was only £6.95. When we queried this we were told that the main course option included a side order so therefore was better value for money. The side options cost £3.99 and according to our maths this was definitely not a saving! Once we spoke to the supervisor in the restaurant we were charged for a starter and side but had to argue the point with her. The following morning we arrived for breakfast (which was detailed on Booked.net at £10 per person and also on our confirmation documents). Our room numbers were not on the list that staff had and at the end of breakfast they presented us with a bill of £13.95 per person for breakfast. Again when we queried this with the supervisor she advised that breakfast was only available at £10 per person if it had been booked through reception while checking in. We had been checked in by a Manager who was extremely unfriendly (Matthew) and did not advise us of this. We then had to sort this to ensure that we were only charged £10 per person the following morning. We then decided to settle our bill the day before we were leaving in order to avoid any hassle when checking out. On checking in we had been asked for a credit card in order to count as confirmation of the room bookings. We never intended to use these cards to pay for our stay and the Manager assured us that this was simply a guarantee.

Room poor, needed refurbished. Shower in bathroom not working. Could hear everything going on in next bedroom. Do Not stay if you want to sleep.Discount could not be given due to pre payment. Needs brought up to date badly

The staff was absolutely lovely and helpful, the hotel was in a perfect location, we eat one night at the bar and it was lovely, the bed was very comfortable, overall I would recommend this hotel to everybody that is going to Edinburgh and I will definately be back.

The only complaint we had that it was too hot in the bedroom, the radiator in the toilet was on all the time and there was no way to turn it off and we had to put the fan that we found in the wardrobe all the time when we were in the room, because everything else was lovely we didn't want to complain and we only stayed two nights but we would have said something if out stay was longer.

The view of Edinburgh and Edinburgh castle was outstandingly beautiful, and the best part of the stay at the Ramada Edinburgh Mount Royal

If we opened the windows for fresh air, it was very noisy at night and first thing in the morning.

We always get a room with a view of the castle, which is amazing. The location is perfect it's in between Jenners and Marks and Spencers>

Very conveinent for the shopping and eating

  • Family with children

The location of the hotel was excellent, right across the street from several museums and a few blocks from the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had big fluffy down pillows and comfortable bedding.

The hotel was situated right above the main street with a busy bus stop right below our window. We were woken up every hour or so by drunken revelers singing, yelling and cursing at the bus stop which made it very hard to sleep at night. Saturday night this continued until almost four in the morning. The toilet needed to be flushed six or seven times before it would work. The beds were so narrow that one was in danger of falling off whenever you turned over. They were also hard and swung back and forth on the frame whenever you moved. Other than the excellent location in my opinion this hotel was a little pricey for what you got.
